Hello,

My name is Joyce Martin and I am the Athletic Director and P.E. teacher for grades 3 through 8. I graduated from Columbia Union College (CUC) in Takoma Park, MD. Prior to that I graduated from Pine Forge Academy in Pine Forge Pennsylvania. I recieved my Masters Degree from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). My love for sports evolved while attending schools in Pennsylvania.

I love traveling, being a shutter bug, bird watching, listening to music, reading, collecting T-Shirts & cookbooks, and attending or being involved in sports events.

Grades 3-5 General Program:
Cooperative games, individual/dual games, and lead-up games.

Grades 6-8 General Program:

Team/individual sports such as: soccer, football, volleyball, softball, fitness, badminton, table tennis, track & field, etc. The 8th graders are also introduced to more leisure/recreational activities: frisbee golf and Ultimate Frisbee, non traditional table & board games, speedball, bowling, and shuffleboard.

In addition to the general program, there are intramurals and varsity basketball and soccer. The Sligo Lions basketball team has done very well in tournament play in Virginia and our own sponsored local tournament where we have had as many as 14 girls and boys competing.
