Librarian:
Ms. Ardyce Griswold, M.S.L.S.
301-434-1417, Ext. 223/224

Hello, I am Ardyce Griswold, the librarian at Sligo School. I have been in that position now for 47 years and in June 2006 will retire from full-time work. I was born in Clinton, Mass. When I was about two months old I went to live with my paternal grandparents in Elmira, NY. I attended local elementary and high schools there. I returned to Massachusetts for my college years. After graduating from Atlantic Union College I first taught freshman English, general math, algebra 1 and was assistant dean of girls at Forest Lake Academy in Florida. One year in Florida was enough. I moved back north to teach grades 9 and 10 at Culver Junior Academy in Rochester, NY. During that year I returned to AUC for alumni weekend and met the president of Washington Missionary College (now Columbia Union College). A few weeks later he called me to take the position of elementary school librarian at Sligo School, the campus school for WMC. I have been with Sligo School ever since. I will remain in Takoma Park and will be at the school part-time for the 2006-2007 school year.
