My name is Melody Trauthwein and I teach 6th - 8th Math / Science. I also am happy to be the 6th grade homeroom teacher! I taught the same subjects last year but before that, I taught band / choir/ classroom music for ten years. I am enjoying the chance to work in other subject areas very much! I graduated from Pacific union College with a B. Mus. Ed. and then from the University of Oregon with a master of Music. Since then I have gone on to gain endorsements in Genereal Science and Mathematics. I am always interested in reading and learning new ideas. I love used bookstores and traveling with my husband, especially in Maryland and Pennsylvania. We like to explore off the main highways and to visit historical sites. My goals for my math students are that they will have all opportunities open to them in high school, college, and in their career choices. I don't want anyone to give up on math in middle school. Regardless of whether they choose a career that requires much math or not, I want each student to be able to take care of themselves financially and to make intelligent monetary choices. My goals for my science students are for them to explore the vast field of science and to understand how many ways there are to be scientists. I want them to understand the Math is the language of science and that you cannot have one without the other. I want them to see God's handiwork from the tiniest atomic particle to the largest galaxy!
