Hello everyone, my name is Melody Trauthwein and I am the 6th grade homeroom teacher here at Sligo Adventist School. I will be teaching math and science for grades 6-8. I am very excited at this new challenge and can’t wait for the year to begin! I am endorsed in the areas of math, English, German, and music and I am almost finished with my science endorsement. I have 10 years teaching experience, of which four of them have been here at Sligo.
I view science and math as two sides of the same coin. I believe that every human being, no matter what profession, needs to be scientifically and mathematically literate. I also believe that a solid math/science background will give students the interest and ability to continue these subjects in high school, college, and beyond.
Even more than that, I believe that studying math/science helps to deepen our understanding and appreciation of the nature of God and His creation. |
